Project Manager - Mechanical Bias\n\nWakefield \n\n£55,000 + Company car / allowance / 5% bonus\n\nBrief\n\nProject Manager needed for a large well known Facilities Management organisation based in Wakefield who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Project Manager that is mechanically bias that takes pride in their work.\n\nThe Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of mechanical engineering projects across a PFI healthcare estate, ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations, HTM standards, statutory requirements, and clinical environment constraints.\n\nThe role manages lifecycle, variation, and minor capital projects from concept design through to commissioning and handover, ensuring safety, continuity of clinical services, and high-quality engineering outcomes.\n\nBenefits\n\nSalary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum\n25 day's holiday\nCompany car / allowance\nVariable annual bonus based 5-15%\nPension Plan\nCareer Progression \n\nWhat the role entails:\n\nSome of the main duties of the Project Manager will include:\n\nHealth, Safety & Compliance \n\nEnsure strict adherence to site safety, NHS infection control standards, and\nAssociated Safe Systems of Work processes.\nCompile and review RAMS, ensuring they meet clinical and PFI requirements.\nSupport audits, compliance inspections, and technical reviews.PFI & Contractual Compliance \n\nEnsure all projects comply with PFI contract requirements, output specifications, and performance indicators.\nWork collaboratively with SPV/ProjectCo, NHS Trust stakeholders, and external partners to achieve contractual approvals.\nProduce workstream programmes, phasing plans, and containment strategies for high-risk areas (theatres, ICU, isolation suites).\nPlan and deliver mechanical projects in live clinical environments, ensuring minimal disruption to patient services.\nManage HTM-compliant design, installation, testing, and commissioning (HVAC, medical gases, domestic water, ventilation AHUs, heating, CHW, plant replacement, etc.).\nEnsure all works meet HTMs, HBNs, CIBSE guidance, and other relevant healthcare standards.Technical Leadership \n\nProvide engineering guidance on complex mechanical systems common in hospital environments.\nReview designs, validate engineering solutions, and challenge non-compliant proposals. Ensure accurate O&M documentation, commissioning results, and asset data updates for CAFM systems.\nDrive innovation in efficiency, sustainability, and long-term asset performance.What experience you need to be the successful Project Manager:\n\nExperience managing mechanical projects in healthcare, PFI, or similarly critical environments.\nKnowledge of mechanical systems in hospitals: domestic water, ventilation, heating, CHW, medical gases, etc.\nUnderstanding of HTMs, HBNs, NHS policies, CDM Regulations, and statutory compliance.\nExperience with works in live clinical or acute hospital settings.\nStrong stakeholder management, including SPV/NHS relationships.\nAbility to produce technical reports, risk assessments, and project documentation.\nRequired Skills & Experience - Desirable\nPrevious PFI project experience.\nInfection control principles (ICRA), water safety, and ventilation validation knowledge.\nLifecycle planning and PFI asset management experience. * Experience with CAFM systems (Maximo, Concept, Planet FM).This really is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Manager to progress their career.
